Power Gem is a type of Special Gem that appears in Bejeweled 2 and the old version of Bejeweled Blitz (before the 2009 update). It has an appearance of a gem with a shine that emanates from the center of the gem.

Overview[]

It is created by matching four gems of the same color in a row or matching 5 or 6 gems in an "L", "T" or "+" shape. If Hardware Acceleration is turned on (and in specific versions of the game), surrounding gems will flash with the bright light given off of the Power Gem. When detonated, it will explode in a 3x3 area, destroying nearby gems including any Hypercubes without triggering its function and detonating any Power Gems as a chain reaction.

This gem was succeeded by the Flame Gem as of Bejeweled Twist, which appeared throughout the rest of the Bejeweled series (save for the Blitz update of the iOS version of Bejeweled 2 and the old version of Bejeweled Blitz). This gem, as the name implies, has a flame appearance and an improved denotation that detonates any Hypercubes with its function.

Strategies and tips[]

It's the only explosive gem that can be created in 3 ways. On match, it will destroy anything in it's 3x3 radius.

On Classic and Twilight, it's considered as big threat to player's Hypercube. Heavily would decrease's player's survivability if any Power Gem is close to a Hypercube. Highly recommended to avoid making them whenever possible.

On Endless, Action and Hyper, Power Gem considered as a great booster to pass level quickly, rather normal match as it has higher score on creation and detonation. Keep creating more and more power gem quickly as possible in Action and in Hyper. The more you create and cause a chain reaction, the faster you'll pass levels.

While playing Finity mode, Power Gems will randomly spawn during a gameplay. Utilize their spawn and create a chain reaction with it. If Bomb is close to a Power Gem, match the Power Gem first. The score will rise up faster.

On Puzzle and Cognito, it's part of the obstacle to pass them so not much it acts as biggest threat on these gamemodes. But player will have to clear them as well to pass the puzzles.
