Bejeweled LIVE is a tile match-3 game developed by PopCap Games. It is a variant of Bejeweled 3, though it is based off a modified version of the iOS port of Bejeweled 2 using gameplay mechanics from Bejeweled Blitz and Bejeweled 3. It was released exclusively on Windows Phone 7 on October 8, 2010.[1]

An updated version, named Bejeweled Live + and based more on Bejeweled Classic, was released in 2013 for Windows Phone 8. Bejeweled LIVE is currently discontinued from the Microsoft Store.


Bejeweled LIVE is a mobile port of Bejeweled 3 with the modified version of Bejeweled 2 for iOS, and features 3 modes, with 2 returning from Bejeweled 2: Classic, Action and Endless. All the modes (with alterations to Action) play exactly as they did in Bejeweled 2. A feature added from Bejeweled Blitz and Bejeweled 3 is the play style that allows being able to match gems while others are falling, the inclusion of Star Gems, being able to perform the Annihilator move and more. Bejeweled LIVE also features Xbox network intergration (formerly Xbox Live), which allows support for online leaderboards and achievements.

Differences from the iOS version of Bejeweled 2 and Bejeweled 3[]

  • Bejeweled LIVE is a modified version of Bejeweled 2 for iOS.
    • As such, the game features animations, layout, gravity and sounds are recycled from Bejeweled 2. However, music, the voice, backgrounds, textures and some sounds are directly from Bejeweled 3 or are entirely unique.
      • Bejeweled 2 sound effects that were recycled include: matching gems, creating Flame Gems and Hypercubes (the Flame Gem sound effect is the same one as the Power Gem), the level up sound effects, and more.
      • The Star Gem sound effect also adopts the Lightning Gem sound effect from Bejeweled Twist, a fact that is also unique to Bejeweled LIVE.
      • The PopCap loading screen uses the same animation seen in mobile Bejeweled 2.
    • The UI has been edited, with the buttons and score all being displayed in one area. The button panel has all it's buttons merged into one, in the style of the original PC versions.
      • The Pause button and Endless indicator use an icon instead of text.
    • As with the iOS version of Bejeweled 2, the game can be played in both the Portrait and Landscape screen orientations.
  • Bejeweled LIVE features Xbox network (formerly Xbox Live) integration, which support leaderboards and achievements.
  • The main menu background animates, instead of being still.
  • Action Mode features the Speed Bonus and Blazing Speed features from Lightning in Bejeweled 3, as well as the game Bejeweled Blitz and the Chinese re-release versions of Ice Storm and Time Bomb modes.
  • Endless mode is still increase the base score multiplier, unlike Bejeweled 2 and Bejeweled 3 Zen mode.
  • The wormhole animation is slightly different. Like the iOS and Android version of Bejeweled 2, the wormhole animation is faster than original.
  • Each mode has it's own theme music, unlike Bejeweled 2; which shared the same song throughout the entire game.
  • Several backgrounds have been altered or unused.
    • In addition, there are several exclusive backgrounds that do not appear in Bejeweled 3 or any of it's related releases.


  • Despite being based on Bejeweled 3, the game predates the release of Bejeweled 3 by 2 months (60 days).
    • The release of Bejeweled LIVE also predates the announcement of Bejeweled 3 itself, which was released on October 29, 2010.
    • The trailer for Bejeweled LIVE however, was released about 4 weeks later after the release of the game, on November 11, 2010.
